Place [Maker] Space is a 3-day interdisciplinary convergence for makers and researchers to dialogue and exchange practices that address notions of place.
Using Earthdance and its surrounds as a point of departure, Place [Maker] Space participants invent practices, adapt technologies, analyze problems, devise experiments, and craft performances as a means of proposing “solutions” to place that privilege the embodied or experiential.
We are inspired by eco-hack and other “hacks”, where people from a wide range of disciplines gather to work toward solutions to common problems. In this model, cooperation and collaboration fuel innovation and broaden understanding. At Place [Maker] Space, technologies originating in dance, performance, visual art, ecology, geography, community organizing, architecture, and other forms of place-related making and research serve as our tools of engagement with each other and our location.
